Happy Easter!
I hope the bunny delivered a sufficient amount of chocolate.
So I’ve finally finished the bottoms for my SWAP. Photos will be coming but I want to put some effort into them this time and take them outside now that the snow is gone and the neighbourhood near our new place is a touch more scenic than the old place was.
I’m down to three blouses, a vest and a dress… and it’s April 4th so we’ll have to see if I can pull this off.
I’ve been agonizing over one of the blouses a bit.
The plan was to do Vogue 8598 view B (the blue one) in a cream silk. I thought the silk would lend the right texture to the sleeves and make them flowy and a little whimsical, since controlled whimsy is a major aspect of my plan.
But I’ve been looking at the pattern and starting to wonder about the sleeves.
You see. I’m also working on a vest and the thought of combining the vest with this billowy sleeved blouse brought this to mind.
Now, I happen to really enjoy the movie Labyrinth and someday I would love to re-create a couple of costumes from it. This wasn’t one that I had in mind though.
While I’d be okay with echoing it, I would prefer not to look like I’m channeling the 80’s too much as they didn’t flatter me a whole lot the first time through, and, overall I’m pretty happy that their revival is over.
I’m also concerned because there’s a suggestion on Pattern Review that the fit of this pattern is hard to work with and I know my FBA skills are fledgling to say the least.
I don’t want to tear my hair out over something that makes me feel about 25 years out of date in the end.
Anybody have any opinions to share?
